Project Overview

The Coast Centre is a community space in Little Bay where people aged 55 and over come to move, learn, create, and connect.

We were engaged to review the existing website with a view to making some ‘cosmetic’ updates. The WordPress site was clunky, slow to load, and lacked cohesion. Images were uploaded as text rather than native text, and, alarmingly, this small charity organisation was paying a huge amount per year for maintenance. The team found it difficult to make changes, so our recommendation was to migrate the site to Squarespace, clean up images and content, optimise for speed and accessibility, and improve the onboarding system for new members.

We undertook a deep dive with the stakeholders to understand their processes and available resources so that we could design a site structure that would help, not hinder, the organisation. We reorganised key pages, introduced forms, a clean look and feel (as there was no brand in place, only the logo, which was to be retained), and we introduced a newsletter sign-up. We also undertook 301 directs from the old site to ensure there was no error pages or loss of domain authority.
